One mid-May evening this springtime
St George’s flock went out to dine,
A Travelling Supper for to do,
							Approximately forty-two.
At seven thirty one and all
Were gathered at St George’s Hall
To eat our starters, there were lots -
Egg mayonnaise and cheese in pots,
Paté with toast, walnut in pear
							Were pre-prepared and waiting there.
Next, Jane who reading from her list
Ensured that no-one could be missed,
							Thus all were soon re-congregated
To where we had been allocated
At different venues in the town
There to our main course we sat down
And all of it so very nice -
							Gammon salad, beef with rice,
							And salmon, and a barbecue
							To feed our hungry forty-two.
And when we all had been well fed
On to the Vicarage we sped.
							Desserts and cheeses, coffee, tea
							And chatted most contentedly
Until ’twas late and time to head
We forty-two home to our bed.
