Anna Chaplaincy

A Commissioning Service for Anna Chaplains was held in St George’s Church on Sunday 21st May.

Three candidates, from Warblington with Emsworth, Hayling Island and Marian Haughton from our own Parish were commissioned.

Anna Chaplaincy began in Alton, Hants in 2010 and there are now around 250 Anna Chaplains across the country, working with older people especially those coping with bereavement and loss.

The name was chosen after the elderly woman named Anna who lived and worshipped in the Temple in Jerusalem and with Simeon recognised the baby Jesus as the promised Messiah.
