Christmas 2025/New Year 2026 issue

Anna Richardson, 1941 - 2025

Sadly Anna passed away on Thursday 18th September 2025, aged 84 years.

Don Lloyd wrote a lovely tribute on Facebook that Anna was a Senior Nurse at Deal hospital when the IRA committed their murderous act on 22nd September 1989. She was so caring and felt responsible for everyone involved, which in turn made her a great supporter of the Royal Marines Band Service and all that they stand for. Anna lived the last part of her life in Waterlooville and the Lloyd family had the privilege of meeting her through St George’s Church – a wonderful woman who gave so much who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Anna used to help Len and David Palmer sell plants off the church wall every week a few years ago. She also regularly helped selling raffle tickets at the Waterlooville Music Festival. She helped John Hood on his jams and pickles stall at the Church Summer Fetes and Christmas Bazaars. She loved all sports and was an ardent follower of Kent Cricket Club.

Her ill health meant that we didn’t see her at St George’s so regularly in the last few years but Jane visited her weekly during Covid and took the Bulletin and had a chat on the doorstep. More recently she rang her every couple of weeks and used to pop in to say hello when walking past with the dog. Several St George’s people past and present kept in touch with her.

Anna wanted an unattended cremation and her family will scatter her ashes at Farlington Marshes.
